You may feel some discomfort but it isn’t painful What does it feel like? The skin will feel hot and tight during the treatment. What should I expect after a treatment? The skin will look pink immediately after the treatment. This will reduce within a few days. Your skin may feel tight and warm and you may experience dryness and flaking 3-7 days after. When will I see results? About a week after the treatment your skin will look rejuvenated. The new collagen that has been produced will become stronger over time. Best results can be seen 3-4 weeks after the treatment. How many treatments do I need? How it Works
In non-ablative resurfacing, fractional lasers deliver heat into the skin through thousands of tiny columns known as microthermal treatment zones. The treatment eliminates old epidermal pigmented cells and deposits heat deep into the dermis to stimulate collagen production. Surrounding tissue is unaffected. The fractional approach allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area was treated. This treatment impacts 5% of the epidermis compared to 10-20% with ablative fractional lasers. This means that we are effectively heating the dermis to stimulate collagen production, without seriously impacting the epidermis. Downtime is minimal.
What to Expect
First your skin is cleansed, then a Q-switched fractional laser is passed over the treatment area. This causes heat to be delivered to the dermis of the skin and so you may feel some mild discomfort. A Photo Thermal tip (non fractional) is then used to deliver more heat to the treatment area to maximise collagen stimulation. You will experience some redness and swelling immediately after the treatment which will subside within 2-3 days. You will have some mild peeling/flaking of the skin between day 3 and 5 as the skin cells regenerate. By day 7 the skin will look refreshed and glowing.
